Chris Gayle, a former West Indies player, made the ridiculous claim that he is the best off-spinner of all time and that only the legendary Muttiah Muralitharan can compete with him. The illustrious batter will also play in the debut game of 6ixty, a brand-new 60-ball format in the Caribbean Islands. Gayle also had a funny response before the 6ixty regarding his economy rate being better than Sunil Narine, who will play for the Knight Riders.
“You know what? My bowling is natural. Definitely, I have to bowl. I’m the greatest off-spinner of all time. Murali (Muttiah Muralitharan) won’t contest that for sure. I have the best economy, not even Sunil Narine can come close to that,” Gayle told ESPNcricinfo.
Gayle will play for St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots, one of four teams competing for the championship, along with the Jamaica Tallawahs, Guyana Amazon Warriors, Barbados Royals, Trinbago Knight Riders, and St. Lucia Kings. It’s interesting to note that Gayle also played for the Patriots in the CPL. He and Evin Lewis made several teams have nightmares while they were opening the batting.
