It hasn’t always been the same, though. Players from India and Pakistan occasionally lost their cool, and one of the continuing confrontations involved Shahid Afridi and Gautam Gambhir. The two had memorably fought one other on the field during an ODI game in Kanpur in 2007. Usually, players claim that everything is forgotten once they get home from the pitch, but it appears that this specific couple hasn’t experienced that.
Gambhir and Afridi have frequently disagreed on the social media platform Twitter in recent years, whether it be over politics or cricket. And on Sunday, the former Pakistan captain continued to criticise Gambhir when appearing on Aaj Tak as a member of the knowledgeable panel on Pakistani TV network Samaa TV.
“It’s not like I have had a fight with any of the Indian players. Yes, sometimes there are some arguments with Gautam Gambhir on social media. And I think that Gautam is a sort of character which no one likes even in the Indian team,” Afridi said as he talked about his relationship with the Indian players.
There were several tweets from Indian supporters who voiced similar anger with Harbhajan laughing with Afridi after the latter made a remark about Gambhir.
