Shakib Al Hasan has been chosen as the new T20I captain by the Bangladesh Cricket Board, according to the Bangladesh press on Saturday, August 13. Nurul Hasan, who led in the series against Zimbabwe earlier in August, will be replaced by the all-rounder, at least until the T20 World Cup.
The most senior and recognizable cricketer from Bangladesh on the team met with BCB officials. Shakib was given the reigns as captain of a team that has struggled throughout all cricketing competitions.
After courting several scandals over the previous year, Shakib himself has had an inconsistent connection with BCB. The most recent one involved agreeing to a contract with a news outlet run by a casino company from a Dutch Caribbean island.
Following the meeting, Jalal Yunus, the head of the BCB cricket operation, announced that Shakib al Hasan will serve as captain till the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup.
“We are hopeful since he said he won’t make any more mistakes after making the error of signing the contract with Betwinner News,” Yunus stated.
