On Monday, India’s rising star Shubman Gill finally hit his first century in One Day Internationals, giving India a commanding lead against Zimbabwe going into the third and final ODI.

In the three-match ODI series against the West Indies, Gill won the Man of the Series award thanks to his impressive performance recently. During the decisive game against the West Indies, the 22-year-old came very close to reaching the elusive three-figure threshold. Rain, however, dealt him a bad hand, leaving him stranded on 98 runs unbroken.

In order to keep the run rate high, the 22-year-old took on the bowling and scored boundaries at will while appearing to be in excellent form. In just 82 deliveries, Gill surpassed the milestone with a 12 boundaries.

The right-handed batter had a successful series because he finished the opening game on August 18th unblemished at 82. The 22-year-old was obliged to give up his opening place in the second ODI to captain Rahul, and he entered the game at No. 3 for the squad. He made an impression once more by scoring 33 runs in the game.
