US media reported on Friday that American actress Anne Heche was hospitalised in critical condition after slamming her car into a Los Angeles residence.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, a vehicle collided with a two-story house in Los Angeles’ Mar Vista district, “causing structural compromise and bursting in a severe fire.”
The female adult discovered in the car was “rushed to an area hospital by LAFD paramedics in severe condition,” according to the report.
The early reports by celebrity gossip publication TMZ that the woman inside the blue Mini Cooper was Heche were confirmed by US media.
According to TMZ, the 53-year-old actress initially smashed into an apartment building garage before driving away.
Later, the same car collided with and “heavily damaged” the Mar Vista residence. According to the fire service, the resulting blaze took 59 firemen 65 minutes to contain and completely extinguish.
She appeared in several 1990s films, including “Six Days, Seven Nights,” “Donnie Brasco,” and “I Know What You Did Last Summer.”
Heche is also well-known for her part in the soap opera “Another World,” for which she received a Daytime Emmy nomination in 1991.
She was in a high-profile romance with talk show star Ellen DeGeneres in the 1990s.
