
On Friday, the National Film Awards ceremony was held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, where President Droupadi Murmu gave awards to numerous actors, directors, and other members of the film industry. The PIB broadcast the award presentation live on its social media accounts. Due to the extraordinary situation brought on by the Covid-19 outbreak, the award ceremony was postponed.
Suriya wore a traditional lungi to the event, and for the award ceremony, his wife wore a lavender saree. Photos from the ceremony show them taking selfies of one another while the other collected their prize while they were both in the crowd.
For Soorari Pottru, actor Suriya won the Best Actor award, and his wife, actress Jyothika, won the Best Feature Film prize.

At the 68th National Film Awards, the semi-biographical drama Soorarai Pottru won in three of the four major award categories: best feature film, best actor, and best actress. For the Malayalam movie AK Ayyappanum Koshiyum, Sachidanandan KR received the best director award posthumously.
The 10-member jury, presided over by the Hindi director Vipul Shah, chose the winners for the 68th National Film Awards. Dharam Gulati, a jury member, presented the awards.
