
Former US presidents won’t be permitted to attend the Queen’s funeral, breaking with tradition. Only the current heads of state and their spouses or partners will get the accolade, according to the American news website The Daily Beast.
US President Biden accepted an invitation to attend Queen Elizabeth II’s burial, the White House confirmed on Sunday. However, according to the White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Monday, the invitation “was for the president and the first lady only.”
Following the passing of Britain’s 96-year-old monarch, former US President Donald Trump referred to the late Queen Elizabeth as a “great woman” who never made mistakes.
According to Reuters, Trump said on GB News, “Who could be greater than what she’s done? And she did it so long, so well, and never made mistakes.”
On September 19 in Westminster Abbey, presidents, prime ministers, and kings and queens from all around the world are anticipated to attend Queen Elizabeth’s state funeral. According to USA Today, Queen Elizabeth’s formal coronation took place at this church in 1953.
