Gautam Adani, chairman of the Adani Group, is now the second-richest person in the world. As of September 16, 2022, Adani’s net worth was $155.7 billion, surpassing Jeff Bezos of Amazon, according to Forbes Real-Time Billionaires List. With a net worth of $273.5 billion, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who is still the richest person in the world, is now only slightly behind Adani.
With a net worth of $137.4 billion last month, Adani overtook co-founder of the high-end clothing retailer LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, more popularly known as LVMH, Bernard Arnault to become the first Asian to enter the top three of the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. Only Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos were ahead of him in the global rankings. In less than a month, he overtook Bezos to take over the second position.
In order to celebrate his 60th birthday, Adani had earlier in June promised to donate Rs 60,000 crore to charity. The donations would be used for healthcare, education, and skill development, according to a statement from his logistics-to-energy business. The highest charity contributions made by an Indian corporation were made, and the company joined the ranks of world billionaires like Warren Buffett and Mark Zuckerberg.
