After sacking Steven Gerrard last week, Aston Villa has now hired Unai Emery, the manager of Villareal, as their new manager. The former Arsenal manager won the UEFA Europa League in 2021–21 and is now back in the Premier League following two years with Villareal in Spain.
After his work permit requirements are finished, according to Aston Villa, Emery will begin as manager on November 1. The 50-year-old will give a final press conference for Villareal, where he spent two years and won the Europa League in his debut season as manager by defeating Manchester United in the final.
Emery was contacted in November 2021 about taking over as manager of Newcastle United after the club had been taken up by Saudi Arabia. However, the Spanish manager declined the offer, claiming that Villareal was his home and that he was fully dedicated to the team.
“My home is Villarreal, and I am fully dedicated to it. I appreciate the great club’s attention, but being here makes me even more grateful “Emery stated in 2021.
