On Monday morning, there were several explosions in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, according to the mayor. Videos that were extensively posted on social media showed clouds of black smoke billowing from buildings.
Vitali Klitschko reported “several explosions in the Shevchenskivskyi area, in the heart of the capital.” Details will follow.
After several months of comparatively peace in Kyiv, explosions occurred about 08:15 local time, and air raid sirens were heard in the Ukrainian capital more than an hour before the blasts, according to AFP.
There are numerous injured persons, according to the Emergency Service spokesperson in Kiev, who talked to Associated Press. Rescuers are now working in several places.

On Sunday, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the explosion that occurred on the Kerch Strait bridge the day before was “an act of terrorism intended to damage critically important civilian infrastructure.” For Moscow’s forces in southern Ukraine, the Kerch Strait serves as a crucial supply route.
